Experience the excitement of walking or running on the Appalachian Trail with WalkTheDistance. This app utilizes the daily walking or running distance recorded from your Health, Fitbit, or Garmin app and transforms it into a virtual journey on the Appalachian Trail or other featured routes around the world. Discover and connect with other users who are completing the same routes and challenge yourself to stay ahead!

WalkTheDistance seamlessly integrates with the Health app, automatically tracking your steps and miles walked or run. No need for additional tracking apps or devices. And if you prefer using a Fitbit or Garmin app, this app is compatible with those as well!

The Appalachian Trail is a massive feat, so we've included checkpoints along the way to keep you motivated. These checkpoints represent shelters where you can "stay the night" and scenic viewpoints. However, you can only unlock these checkpoints once you reach them!

Engage with other users as you walk! Whether you want to walk alongside everyone or with your friends, it's easy to add them to accompany you on your virtual journey. Receive notifications when someone surpasses your progress and let that motivate you to keep going.

WalkTheDistance is incredibly user-friendly. Once activated, it consumes minimal power while running in the background. It retrieves your walking or running distance from the Health app hourly or whenever you open the app. You'll receive notifications on your phone when you reach checkpoints or if friends pass you.

Enjoy free walks on various routes such as the Appalachian Trail, marathons, cities, and national parks. Additional walks can be purchased for $0.99 (or equivalent local currency).
